The Ironlords get costly revenge

The Orlock gang- the Sump Dogs- have been tearing through the Underhive lately.  They've pulled some epic comebacks against the Carrion Queens and the Ironlords.  But all victories come at a cost and revenge is a common currency in these parts.  The Ironlords made their return to punish those lucky Sump Dogs...

Goliaths ready to bullrush...

Orlocks doing what Orlocks do...

The Ironlords were especially pumped (probably full of Escher concoctions) and charged forward and even found themselves leaping tall gaps and jumping atop piles to see everything.  Skullshank led the mad dash and set the example.

The Sump Dogs simply filed forward, getting ready to take the center of the battlefield and hope to bring their firepower to bear.  The commanding positions of the Goliaths meant that cover was very important for the Sump Dogs and they thought they were fine until a spattering of gunfire interrupted their advance.  Again, it was Lander that took the first attack- this time a bouncing grenade!

Poor Lander...

The Superior positions of the Ironlords allowed even their short-ranged Stub Canons a shot or two, giving Drago a sure bead and knocking down one of the Orlocks.  The blast was so loud and the impact so bloody that a nearby ally of the Sump Dog took flight, afraid for his own hide.

We see you!

The Orlocks continued to file forward even against the obviously superior positions of the Goliaths.  The Ironlords were in such a superior position that they started setting up ambushes on the ground.  This meant the Sump Dogs were focused on the upper levels and sacrificing their members below.

"C'mon, Roky!  Come to your doom!"

Brakk taking his due...

The Sump Dogs knew exactly what they were doing as they patiently climbed and advanced into the brutality of the muscled Ironlords.  Splitter Korg charged the Orlock leader just as he crested the stairs.  Nox charged Jon Krow in his rampage along the ground.  Skullshank confidently strode past the melee with his champion and the opposing leader to fire plasma at the rest of the Orlock gang.  The Ironlords were in control, but the Sump Dogs were baiting the Goliaths...

"Who's next?!"

Drago slipped and fell, spraining his ankle.

With characteristic luck, the Orlock leader survived the frenzied attacks of Korg and used his servo-claw to punch through furnace plate and end the champion.  Following up, Roky strode up behind the Goliath leader and ripped his spine out of his back, putting him down.  With horror, Kruger watched his gang lost both its top members!

Meanwhile, the Ironlords continued their rampage on the ground level, taking out multiple Sump Dogs in melee.  Smashing bones with spud-jackers and the odd cleaver is fun to the simple brutes.  Using cover and sneaking up, even establishing ambush position from behind the stairs, the Goliaths dominated the lower level.

Thank the Emprah for this furnace plate!

Because why not?

After Roky's massacre, he called to rally his fellow Sump Dogs to him.  He planned to run up the ramp and jump the position held by the dangerous grenade launcher.  Unfortunately, Kruger reacted as the Orlocks gathered at the bottom and dropped a frag grenade perfectly.  The explosion put all three of the enemies down, keeping him safe and allowing the Ironlords to stride into four more tally-marks.

The shocking turnaround broke the nerves of the Sump Dogs and saw them crawl away from the battlefield.  The Ironlords had convincingly destroyed the upstarts, taking down most of the enemy quickly.

But they paid the price.  The Orlock leader crushed both the Goliath champion and leader before suffering a severe injury himself.  The Ironlords were without leadership after this battle.  The Sump Dogs finally lost a game.  More brutality!

The Sump Dogs at it again

As noted in the last post, we've been a bit focused on the Necromunda and getting some battles in on that great TinkerTurf terrain (it's awesome running around gantries and platforms and shooting down at enemies).  To kick off this round of battles, we have the Carrion Queens battling the Sump Dogs.  After the brutal comeback against the Goliaths, can the Orlocks do it again?

The Sump Dogs

With the silent signal, the Sump Dogs advanced and tried to use as much cover as they could.  But the wiley Eschers were prepared and immediately pinned one of the Orlocks.  The shuffle of dashing bodies was the only other sound echoing across the battlefield this round.

Poor Lander...

It wasn't long before the Carrion Queens took the high ground and initiative from position (despite not getting Priority for the entire first half of the game).  This was the opposite of the Orlocks' experience from their last battle.  While they were still in good shape, they weren't outmaneuvering the enemy again.

Reina had even quietly snuck around and chased Zed and his two buddies up the stairs where they cowered from her sudden appearance.  Discretion is the better part of the valour, right?

The rest of the Carrion Queens climbed quickly to the top of the battlefield, taking some fire and having to hug the platforms.  It was becoming a repeat of their last battle, where they were surrounded and their high-ground advantage was completely taken from them.

Just as the Sump Dogs found their way to some advantage, the lithe Eschers fell on them from every direction, even above with little more than a rickety ramp!  Nakomi had the misfortune of falling prey to some unlucky shooting and a coup-de-grace from Jon Krow, giving the Orlock a much-needed confidence boost.  Unfortunately, Marika followed up right behind and stole that confidence right back...

Meanwhile, Marika continued her rampage, knocking Mo Two-Fist out and securing most of the high ground.  This allowed for Brae to turn back and handle the already bleeding Grimm...

Even point blank, she was nervously shaking and missed.  Grim, not yet finished for the battle, fired back and took her out.  Nerves matter.

However, the stubbornness of Grim didn't outweigh the damage that the Orlocks have taken up to this point.  Outnumbered and outpositioned, the Sump Dogs had that dark feeling again.

Nerves finally broke with the realization that they were few and the Sump Dogs mostly abandoned the battle.  But they took down a number of the Eschers on the way out and made the Carrion Queens pay.  The hero in this battle was Grim.

It was another brutal battle in the Underhive!  The Sump Dogs were definitely a force to be reckoned with- as long as they didn't flee from the conflict at the most key moments!  The Carrion Queens were vicious and fast, quickly taking every position they wanted.  But they paid every time an Orlock shot as they aren't nearly as tough as the Goliaths from the previous battle.
